1. At a glance
- We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in, protect your session and remember your language.
- We store your light or dark theme choice in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your browser.
- We do not currently use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
- Our CAPTCHA is generated on our own servers and does not use third-party tracking.
- If you block essential cookies, you will not be able to sign in.
2. What cookies and local storage are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Your browser sends it back to the website on later visits, so the site can recognise your session or remember a setting.
Local storage is a similar feature that lets a website save small pieces of information in your browser. Unlike cookies, it is not sent to our servers.
3. Cookies we use
| Cookie | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| sg_session (in production: __Host-sg_session) | Essential | Keeps you signed in to your customer account. HttpOnly, so page scripts cannot read it. Ends when you close your browser or sign out; if you choose "Remember me", it can last up to 30 days. |
| sg_admin (in production: __Host-sg_admin) | Essential | Keeps SMSGELY staff signed in to the staff area. HttpOnly. Not set for customers. |
| sg_ui | Essential | A simple "signed in" hint (it contains no personal information), so public pages can show the right buttons, such as "Dashboard" instead of "Log in". It grants no access by itself. Lasts as long as your sign-in session. |
| sg_lang | Functional | Remembers whether you prefer English or Bangla. Lasts 1 year. |
The session cookies hold a random token. The token links your browser to a session record on our servers, which also stores the session's IP address and user agent for security. See our Privacy Policy.
In production, session cookies use the "__Host-" prefix and are marked Secure. This means the browser sends them only over HTTPS and only to our own domain.
Why essential cookies are needed
Without the session cookie, our servers cannot tell that a request comes from you, so you would be asked to sign in on every page. Essential cookies are used only to run the service and keep it secure. They are not used for advertising or to build a profile of you.
The SMS API
Requests to the SMS API are authenticated with your API key, not with cookies. No cookies are needed to use the API.
4. Local storage we use
| Key | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| smsgely-theme | Functional | Remembers your theme choice (light, dark or system). Stays in your browser and is not sent to us. |
5. What we do not use
- No analytics cookies. We do not currently use cookie-based analytics tools.
- No advertising or tracking cookies. We do not use cookies to show you ads or track you across other websites.
- No third-party CAPTCHA tracking. Our CAPTCHA is generated on our own servers.
If we add analytics or similar tools in future, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires.
6. Your choices
Most browsers let you view, block and delete cookies and local storage in their settings. You can usually find these options under "Privacy", "Security" or "Site settings".
- Blocking essential cookies will stop you from signing in and using the dashboard.
- Deleting sg_lang means the site will use its default language until you choose again.
- Clearing local storage resets your theme to match your device setting.
Signing out removes your session cookie and ends the session on our servers.
7. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy if we change the cookies we use. Each version has a version number and an effective date, shown on this page.
This policy is published in English and Bangla. If the two versions conflict, the version designated by SMSGELY after legal review applies.
8. Important notice
